Welcome to our New Website!

posted by LINA LAYIKTEZ on 10/6/08

Welcome to the new Campus Events and Visitor’s website. The site has been re-designed from the ground up to reflect the UC Davis brand, take advantage of current web and accessibility standards, and present our content in an organized and sensible way for you.

While the look and branding has changed and your links to content on our previous site perhaps no longer valid, you’ll find that all the content and applications have been brought over. In addition to transferring our information, we have also taken the opportunity to review all the content and in many instances, update and enhance it.

Some features to note are:

  • The tabs at the top of our site are now organized according to function rather than unit. The largest change is that content previously under “Conference & Event Services” and “University Event Services” can now be found in one section – “Event Services”.
  • The top right “Quick Links” drop down box is a quick way to get to the frequently referenced and accessed content and functions in our website.
  • Each tab section has a News page that will be updated frequently with information that is new and updated to that specific function.
  • For those of you who log into our website for our various applications, the “CEVS Applications” tab is where you access the login and our applications.
  • A new comment and feedback function has been added via the “Contact Us” tab.

I hope you take the time to get familiar with our new website. We’ll also be updating and enhancing our website regularly so I welcome you to come back often and browse. As always, feedback and comments are welcome.

Kathleen Moore Memorial Fund benefits OOA and ORMP

posted by MARK SY on 10/3/08

UC Davis OOA Logo

An endowment fund has been created to provide Career Advancement Awards to OOA and ORMP employees pursuing professional education and training. It is named in honor of the former assistant vice chancellor for administration who died of cancer in September 2007.

According to vice chancellor Stan Nosek, "Scholarships will help pay for the personal costs that university and departmental policy does not allow, such as childcare, a computer, home office supplies, tuition, to name a few."

Employees are invited to contribute to the Kathleen Moore Fund. Contributing to the fund is entirely optional, but will be appreciated. Increasing the endowment means more Career Advancement Awards available in the future.

To learn about the award program and how to contribute, go to http://vcadmin.ucdavis.edu/howto/recognition/career-advancement-kmoore-fund.cfm.

Centennial Walk Project

posted by MARK SY on 10/1/08

The Centennial Walk project is scheduled to begin July 21, 2008 and will continue through October 14, 2008. Construction fencing (6’ temporary chain link) is scheduled to remain in place along the center of the quad until October 14. A pass through is not an option from East to West Quad.

Sod will be installed September 26 on either side of the new walk, which is approximately 5-10’ on each side and cannot support heavy traffic for at least two weeks after installation. The contractor will be using part of Shields Ave as a fenced staging area for the project. That area will collapse after September 26.

Please contact the Assistant Landscape Architect, Christina Demartini Reyes at 752-3161 if you have additional questions.

Memorial Union Closure Update

posted by MARK SY on 7/17/08 - last edited by MARK SY on 7/17/08

In Fall 2008, the East Conference room at the Memorial Union will be closing as an event space indefinitely.  At the same time, King Lounge will be opening as a new event space. King Lounge offers a variety of set-up options as well as increased capacities. The Mee Room is also an alternative location to the East Conference room, as the capacity is closely matched for lecture and classroom style configurations. Please visit the Campus Unions website to view floor plan options at: http://campusunions.ucdavis.edu

Begining Summer 2009, the Coffee House will be renovating all food service and dining areas. Due to noise related issues with the construction and the need for a space to serve grab-and-go food, MU II will be closing as an event space from July 1, 2009 through September 30, 2010. The smaller meeting rooms adjacent to MU II will remain open and available for use with the contingency that there will be noise related issues due to construction and the food service. Campus Unions also suggests that you consider King Lounge or the Cabernet room at the Silo as an alternative event space to MU II. If you have any questions regarding the upcoming changes in the MU meeting spaces, please contact Stephanie Eich at 752-4486 or via email at smeich@ucdavis.edu.

Reservation Procedures and Guidelines

Campus clients can check room availability by selecting "Space Availability" from the menu at the left.  Reservation requests can be completed on-line, printed and faxed to our office by selecting the "Reservation Request Form" from the menu at the left (this applies to departments only; student organizations must bring the signed form to the CEVS office).  Additional reservation policies and guidelines can be found via the grey tab titled "University Event Services" at the top of the home page.
